National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day is Tuesday, Aug 4. In 1937, Ruth Graves ran out of nuts and substituted semisweet chocolate for them in her cooking dough recipe. The rest is history. To help commemorate this holiday, La Gourmandise School will conduct The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Class on Sunday, August 16 (2:30–5:30 p.m.)

Few desserts are as comforting as a warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. Crisp around the edges, soft and chewy in the center, and packed with rich chocolate—it’s a timeless favorite. Have you been frustrated that, even after following a five-star recipe, your cookies still come out flat and dry?
One way to obtain the knowledge and skills is through a cooking class.
I’ve attended a number of cooking classes, which were actually cooking demonstrations. Usually, the setup provided large monitors that displayed a top-down view of the cooking area. While the chef explained things clearly, did you end up making the dish afterward? I didn’t because I didn’t have the confidence to reproduce the dish successfully.
Since 2011, La Gourmandise School has offered hands-on cooking classes in LA for beginners to professionals. They host two large, separate commercial kitchens in Santa Monica, equipped with stainless steel prep tables, 6-burner ranges with hoods, industrial double ovens, walk-in refrigerators/freezers, and high-end tools like KitchenAid mixers and quality chef’s knives.

My wife and I have attended a couple of cooking classes at La Gourmandise School and found them enjoyable and informative. There is plenty of equipment in the kitchen so that you can actually gain hands-on experience. In their Sauces Class, my wife made a delicious port wine reduction sauce, which nicely enhances beef, chicken, or pork main courses.
Scheduled for Sunday, August 16, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie Class provides the essential techniques necessary to master this classic treat. The expertise you acquire will not only refine your cookie-baking skills but also prepare you to create high-quality desserts for the upcoming holiday season.
