Oktoberfest Comes to LA’s Beachside

October 3, 2017 by Bryan

Now that it is October, Oktoberfest is in full swing. This means there will be plenty of traditional celebrations such as dirndl dresses and lederhosen outfits, giant Bavarian pretzels, and of course the obligatory keg tapping which leads to questionable activities like nail driving and the embarrassing chicken dance. But the feast and the party doesn’t start until a platter of bratwurst hits the table.

The majority of Oktoberfest events are held outdoors and are rather warm if they are situated inland. I’m happy to report that many beachside offerings are available this year and attendees should benefit from the cool ocean breeze.

DOMA KITCHEN – Marina del Rey

Bring your appetite to Doma Kitchen in Marina Del Rey as they serve up three locally made grilled bratwurst sausages alongside crunchy fried Bavarian bread, yogurt and horseradish sauce and a side of housemade pickled veggies. Oktoberfest is here so bring your beer-drinking buddies and indulge!

Rockefeller will serve a variety of beer specials with a 2 liter boot available for purchase! Kicking off the start of their Oktoberfest on Monday Sept. 25, there will be a stein holding contest starting at 7:30 p.m. – with the strongest winner receiving a secret prize worth holding out for. Served alongside a couple of authentic German beers, will be food specials such as warm pretzels and traditional German Bratwurst. The Oktoberfest event runs until Oct. 31.

LONG BEACH OKTOBERFEST – OCT 14

The Long Beach Oktoberfest moves to a 2-session unlimited tasting format this year featuring “limited attendance” and more craft beer options (compared to last year) to choose from. Each session is 2.5 hours in length.  Tickets for each session are sold separately.  Each attendee receives a 5oz souvenir acrylic tasting mug. Please note that this is a “boutique” tasting event with 10-12 breweries represented, not the 40-60 you find at large-scale events. However, the crowd will be much smaller and wait times should be shorter!

  • Session 1 is from Noon to 2:30 p.m.
  • Session 2 is from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Attendance is limited for each session. Cost: $25.00 Per Session–Online 9/18 Thru 10/13 (good for one session only)! $30.00 Per Session at the Venue (good for one session only)!

Please note: Due to the limited venue capacity, there are NO Designated Driver tickets available for this event.

Tickets are available here.
