Make Plans for Labor Day Weekend

September 1, 2017 by Bryan

It seems like this summer has flown by. I haven’t taken much advantage of some of the summer events and offerings; hopefully you have made an effort to do so. Labor Day traditionally marks the end of summer. As a result, there are some big events scheduled to take place.

Entrance to The Taste - Labor day

Entrance to The Taste

The most notable of these is The LA Times event, The Taste. Food from every corner of LA is prominently featured on Paramount Studios’ lot. Attendees will benefit from engaging with top chefs and sommeliers like Sang Yoon (Lukshon/Father’s Office), Jet Tila (Cutthroat Kitchen) and Danny Trejo (Trejo’s Tacos/Cantina/Coffee & Donuts). In addition, they will enjoy amazing food, wine seminars, cooking demos and craft spirits. It is a one stop opportunity to sample LA’s finest food and drink.

The 626 Night Market returns to Santa Anita Park for Labor Day weekend. The event features delectables and goods from primarily San Gabriel Valley establishments. There, you will find some of the best Asian street food like garlic noodles, okonomiyaki, bulgogi bowls and Filipino brioche. They also have many vendors selling jewelry, skin care products and apparel.

Vegan donuts at the Vegan Street Fair - Labor Day

The Vegan Street Fair returns for its second annual event from Sept 1-2 at The Federal in North Hollywood. The two-night ticketed event, with vegan eats curated by Instagram’s one and only VeganFatKid, Tim Moore, features a laid-back backyard party vibe complete with beer garden, live band, live DJs and over-sized lawn games. Mouth-watering vegan eats are included from vendors such as Bling Bling Dumpling, S + M Vegan, Taqueria La Venganza, The Wild Chive, Cocobella Creamery, and more.

Aboard the USS Anchorage during LA Fleet Week - Labor Day

Aboard the USS Anchorage during LA Fleet Week

LA Fleet Week is a free public event at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. It features guided ship tours, military exhibits, aerial demonstrations, live music, food and fireworks. Most of the area attractions and businesses are featuring special events and activities. Visit LAWaterfront.org for more details. A complete map of all attractions is available there.

I hope you make time to take advantage of this holiday weekend!
