LA Restaurants Dishing Up Ghoulish Halloween Fare

Halloween is upon us again: neighborhood homes decorated with plastic skeletons and witches and spooky events advertised across LA. While many of last year’s festivities were canceled or heavily restricted because of COVID, this year’s happenings in Southern California are much more open—with some safety measures in place, of course.

Below is a list of some of the best ways to welcome back an onsite Halloween in Los Angeles. (Please check the local health guidelines before making plans as some establishments require vax cards). 

Hollywood

Cat and the Fiddle Pub and Restaurant

The Cat and Fiddle Pub & Restaurant is celebrating “Cat’s & Witches Halloween” all weekend long! They are offering are a three-course pre-fixe menu for takeaway, dine-in, or delivery, 

Choice of Butternut Squash soup or house salad, entrees such as their popular Pumpkin Fish and Chips with Sweet Potato Chips or Beef Wellington, and a selection of dessert such as their Killer Brownies! 

During the Cat’s Happy Hour (4 – 6 p.m.), they will feature drink specials galore: $6 Night Owl craft beer from Elysian Brewing, $6 draft beer, house wine & well drinks, and a $9 specialty cocktail. 

If you elect to dine onsite, please consider making a reservation. Otherwise, you can place your order online and pick it up at the window in front.

Westside

Bianca

Families will appreciate that Bianca is offering their Halloween cookie decorating kit. Each kit comes with freshly baked cookies, various sprinkles, and three colors of house-made frosting. A delicious dessert to enjoy at the restaurant or a fun activity to take home and enjoy with the kids. You can pre-order now or pick up on Sun, Oct 31 until they sell out (no pre-orders). 

Also, in honor of Día de Los Muertos, Bianca is offering Pan de Muerto, a traditional Mexican sweet bread. This pastry is full of symbolism, with a lattice depicting the bones laid on a round bread representing the circle of life—Pre-order by Oct 28 for pick up on Nov 2.

Esters Wine Shop 

On Sunday, Oct 31, Esters’ Sunday tasting takes a Halloween Orange Wine theme for pours of four funky wines and mini cheese pairings. If you are in costume, receive a complimentary “Spooky Cocktail” with the purchase of food. Hours 3 – 9 p.m. $25/person.

Huckleberry Bakery and Cafe 

Huckleberry brings back “Hucktivities,” their Haunted House Kit ($65) for pre-order by Oct 31. The kit includes organic and plant-based candies, sprinkles, icing, chocolate cookies, and more to build a spooky and delicious house. Also offered: The Fall Cookie Decorating Kit ($18) is available until Nov 14, with chocolate acorn cookies, vanilla icing, and plant-based decorations. Order for pickup with 24 hours’ notice online or otherwise call them.

Bettolino Kitchen

On Halloween, Bettolino Kitchen offers something for the adults. When you dine on Oct 31, bring in a bottle of wine, and they will uncork it for free. Dress in costume, and you’ll receive a free mini dessert. The guest with the best costume will receive their entree on the house!

San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant

The San Pedro Fish Market and Restaurant hosts its first-ever Día de los Muertos celebration from Sat, Oct 30 to Mon, Nov 1. Celebrate the festival wearing your costume while enjoying the picturesque Alamitos Bay Marina. Specials include gourmet tacos for $2.99 each or four for $10.99; Lobsta Poutine ($24.99); buy one margarita ($12.99), get second for 25 cents; and extra-large 72 oz. Micheladas served family-style ($35).
