Honey Dress Introduces Korean Fried Chicken to the South Bay

August 4, 2017 by Bryan

Fried chicken has made a strong comeback and it’s not limited to Nashville-style hot fried chicken. New Asian fried chicken restaurants have sprung up; the latest one is a Korean fried chicken restaurant called Honey Dress Fried Chicken in Torrance.

Honey DressHoney Dress Fried Chicken is a fast casual restaurant where customers order at the counter, receive a pager and take a seat. The pager goes off when your meal is ready.

With a counter operation, one would assume that this is fast food. Chicken is made-to-order and prepared after the order is placed. As a result, it will take at least 20 minutes before your order is ready.

Honey DressWhat instantly appealed to me is that their chicken is hormone-free and never frozen. In addition, they do not use MSG. The cooking oil is zero trans fat free canola oil and the honey they use is 100% natural.

I purchased a family pack (whole chicken) and selected half honey soy and half honey spicy. The other choice of flavors is honey soy garlic. I also selected chipotle fries and apple cider cole slaw.

The pieces are fairly large compared to other fried chicken establishments. The skin had a nice crispy exterior (more so with the honey soy). Each bite revealed that the insides were moist and tender, even the breast.

The cole slaw was tasty, not too tangy and not sweet. I thought it was a nice blend. The fries were wedge cut and because of their surface they had a lot of the chipotle salt seasoning. Towards the bottom of the container, the salt tended to settle and the fries were saltier.

The price for the Honey Pack is $20.99. This is definitely higher than KFC, but anyone that has purchased hormone-free chicken knows that this is not cheap. Eating their chicken, it is obvious that they source it from a quality supplier.

Because of the crunchy exterior of the Honey Soy Chicken, I prefer that over the Honey Spicy Chicken. I’ll definitely return to try their chicken sandwich.
