From Fri. Sep 2 through Mon. Sep 12, Mitsuwa Marketplace will host its annual Hokkaido Fair. This 11-day celebration features the best food the Japanese island offers and takes place at all Mitsuwa Marketplace locations.
Hokkaido is Japan’s second largest island and is the northernmost prefecture. The cold ocean waters are ideal for seafood such as king crabs, salmon roe, and sea urchin. In addition, they also are known for wagyu beef and dairy products such as butter, ice cream, and yogurt.
Last year Mitsuwa Marketplace featured prepared food such as Hokkaido Ikura and Salmon Don, Seafood Bento Boxes, and Zangi Fried Chicken available in bowl or ramen dishes. In the meat section, they offered Hokkaido-grown Wagyu beef. Hokkaido Rich Milk Pudding and Hokkaido-grown Chinese yams were available as well.
This Hokkaido food fair is a fantastic opportunity to experience exclusive food you might not experience without traveling to that prefecture.
Southern California Mitsuwa Marketplace locations include Torrance, Santa Monica, Costa Mesa, Irvine, San Diego, and San Gabriel.
Some items are in limited quantities, and Hokkaido items vary by location.
